All you need is salt.

Need to get something cold really fast? Just add salt! No seriously.

This isnít anything new. Iíve known about this one since college. This knowledge was passed down to some friends and myself by a senior my freshman year. He said, ďDude, if you have to cool a keg really fast, through it in a garbage can filled with ice. Add a lot of salt and stir. Itíll be ice cold in about 10 minutesĒ He wasnít lying. Iíve done this numerous times with cans, bottles and kegs.

Iíve gone to parties where itís bring your own beer. Unfortunately the store I went to didnít have the beer I wanted cold. No problem, but the beer, ice and salt containerÖ VIOLA! Cold beer. Donít believe me. See this video and try it yourself.

Oddly enough, though I've never used it I have known about this since I was a kid. I knew someone who did homemade ice cream using one of those hand crank mixers (I don't even remember who it was) but definitely ice and rock salt mixed to go on the outside of the churn to "freeze it".
