New Hobby
Since Christmas I've picked up a new hobby. Now this one is nothing like my other hobbies... re-enacting, shooting, blogging. No this hobby is a little more... genteel persuasion. It started around Christmas, I took pity on the poor birds in the cold outside.
Then I put up some bird feeders. Of course this attracted squirrels that annoyed me. So I went on the war path against squirrels.
That lead me to go to a local store that specializes in feeding wild birds. Where I bought a "squirrel resistant" feeder. Along with some special feed that is supposed to attract a wider variety of birds.
I haven't gotten to the point that I've started jotting down and identifying the different birds I get, but I'm sure that time is coming. Although I do know that I have a lot of cardinals.
So yeah... Ktreva is making fun of me for this.
At least this is a cheap hobby!
Posted by Contagion in Stories about me. at January 13, 2009 09:38 PM | TrackBackYou could be like my buddy in Tampa with the squirrels. He used to work nights and sleep during the day. The squirrels outside his apartment would bark and chatter all day and screw up his sleep. So he bought a pellet gun. Open the window and sit back inside waiting for a squirrel to cross his path. Then, PFFT. Dead squirrel. He quit counting in the mid-20's.

I agree with Petey. Pellet to the head and it will also improve your shooting. Feeding the Bird's not bad are you starting to feel old? Just kidding my brother. We feed them here at home and at the farm.
Posted by: Jim E. at January 14, 2009 03:16 PMAs T1G will confirm, I can't say much. I have several bird feeders in front of my house. But then living as far out in the boondocks as I do its not a big stretch to have a dozen different types of birds in my yard even when I haven't put any seed out.
If you want some real fun get you some Hummingbird nectar. If you want some regular birds, get a Martin House. Once you get Martins, they, and their children, will return to that same house for years.
Sort of like having your own personal illegal immigrant, with feathers, but you don't have to feed them or call INS
